Commemoration ceremony was held in Bucharest dedicated to the 110th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide

27 April, 2025
On April 27, Tigran Galstyan, Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to Romania and the Embassy staff participated in the commemoration ceremony for the victims of the Armenian Genocide
at the Cathedral of the Holy Archangels in Bucharest.

A liturgy dedicated to the 110th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide and the commemoration of the canonized victims of the Genocide was held, led by Bishop Tatev Hakobyan, Primate of
the Armenian Diocese of Romania, followed by a wreath-laying ceremony.
Along with the Romanian-Armenian community, the ceremony was also attended by the representatives of the Romanian
Orthodox Church and other religious groups, as well as ambassadors and diplomats from a number of friendly countries that have recognized the Armenian Genocide.

In his message to the attendees, Ambassador Galstyan emphasized the importance of consolidating the fact that Armenians are a people who have overcome the genocide and regained sovereignty
in the collective consciousness, emphasizing that the best way to honor the memory of the Holy Martyrs is to strengthen the independent Armenian statehood, and beyond its borders, to
preserve the Armenian identity of the generations of survivors.
Speeches were delivered by His Eminence Bishop Varlaam, Patriarchal Vicar of the Romanian Orthodox Church, and Varuzhan Vosganian, President of the Union of Armenians in Romania.
At the end of the ceremony, white doves were released from the territory of the Mother Cathedral as a sign of peace, so that humanity would never again witness the tragedy of genocide.

On April 24 and the following days, more than a dozen commemorative events were held in Bucharest and a number of other Armenian-populated cities in Romania.
