The 25th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between Romania and the Republic of Armenia

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomes, on December17^th, 2016, the 25^thanniversary of the diplomatic relations between Romania and the Republic of Armenia.

Romania was one of the first states to recognize the independence of Armenia, shortly after its proclamation. A few days later, on December 17^th, 1991, in Bucharest, the Agreement on the establishment of diplomatic relations between Romania and the Republic of Armenia was signed.

The Romanian and Armenian peoples share a long tradition of cooperation and comity, which led to numerous achievements in terms of culture, historiography and spirituality, all of them being today the basis of the relations between Romania and the Republic of Armenia.

Over time, the historical Armenian community in Romania had an important contribution to the political, economic and spiritual development of our country.

Currently, the Romanian-Armenian relations continue to develop and expand, important instruments in this regard being the successive programs of cooperation in culture, education and science, as well as the relationships established at the level of the administrative-territorial units of the two countries. They create a solid basis for further development of the political and diplomatic dialogue, on governmental and parliamentary line, as well as of the Romanian-Armenian bilateral cooperation in all fields.
